CNC Milling

Our Machinery

Currently at Newcom our milling section consists of 21 CNC milling machines.

We have three 5 axis machining centres all with the same table size of Ø400mm so these will be used when it comes to small intricate or complex parts. These machines have the ability to rotate the table 360° and also angle the bed up to 90° at any given time, giving us the ability to machine as much detail of one component in one cycle, reducing machining times and help maintain accuracy.

We have 12 vertical machining centres which range from table sizes of 500mm travel all the way up to 1600mm travel in the X axis and up to 850mm in the Y axis. This gives us the scope to machine small to large scale components for a wide variety of different sectors.

We have 6 horizontal twin pallet machining centres with the largest one having a travel of 700mm in both the X and Y axis, these machines come into their own with the larger batch sizes or jobs which require a lot of swarf removal. They all work on a machine tool ‘tombstone’ block design on each pallet so they have the possibility of machining components on five faces of the ‘tombstone’ at once, plus having the ability to spin the pallet 360° to machine details or angles on more than one component during each cycle.

Accuracy & DNC Linked

This section has been the backbone of Newcom from the start with the machines now achieving greater accuracies, having greater reliability and with a controlled maintenance program have minimum disruption to our production.
All of the machines are DNC linked so that programming can either be done at the machine or for the more difficult components offline on our CAD system, this has enabled us with specialist fixturing and tooling to produce near “5 axis” machining work at a fraction of the cost.
