About Newcom Engineering

Newcom have been manufacturing on the Earith Business Park since 1989, where we have grown from our humble beginnings of having just 4 staff and using one CNC mill and lathe in 2000 sq/ft of workshop, to presently employing 44 dedicated staff in our premises of 16,000 sq/ft.

Our workshop operates 24 hours a day, Monday until Thursday and closes at 4pm on Fridays. We have 30 skilled machinists working on our day and night shifts with 5 working on the latter. We also have 2 apprentices on EAL NVQs for mechanical engineering. The machines used are a five axis vertical machining centre, five CNC twin pallet horizontal machining centres and one five pallet horizontal machining centre, thirteen CNC vertical machining centres (two with twin pallets), three CNC turning centres with driven tooling (one with a transferable sub-spindle), four CNC turning centres, with manual mills and lathes to finally complete our portfolio of machining capability.

To compliment the machining side of the company we employ 5 staff in our dedicated assembly and finishing area, where we are able to grain, insert bushes, vapour hone, beadblast and generally finish items to our customer's specification.

The Inspection department also employs 3 staff operating our CMMs, Shadow Graph and various inspection equipment. As well as ensuring that the IS0 9001:2015 standards are met and improved on where necessary.

Also employed are 14 non-production staff on site, working in the offices, packing, goods in/out and delivery personnel.

Our state of the art in-house facilities make extensive use of computer systems throughout it's operation encompassing production, delivery scheduling and quality control as well as many other commercial functions by use of the Progress & Subcon business control software. All of our facilities are networked and in turn direct linked via our CAD/CAM system to all of the CNC machine tools, which enables the downloading of customers DXF, DWG, IGES , STEP and any other type of cad files from disc or email, thus reducing set up times considerably on the machines, we are also able to measure items directly to customers IGES files with our 3D software on our Quantum 6104 CMM.

Newcom supplies a cross section of the UK's leading organisations with components and kits of parts; many of which are on a Kanban or Ship to line basis. Many contracts have been won primarily as a result of the high level of skills to be found throughout the workforce at Newcom. Our high level of training and the continuous maintenance of our machines enable Newcom to consistently have minimum rejects. On the odd occasion where this does occur we aim to correct or replace these items within a minimum time period as possible, as we realise that any delay of the product to our customers can have serious consequences to their good name and delivery.
